I don't understand
Humanity at all
When the ones that say
We are the greatest creatures
Are the ones who help us fall
When the ones that say
We're humans, not animals
Are the ones that act like beasts
And are we better creatures
Just because we don't understand the other's speech?
And after all humanity is on
The animal branch of the tree
And are we better creatures when some kill
Not for food, but for play?
And the "weaker" of our species
We pick on like they're prey?
And survival of the fittest
Still applies in every way
With all of our medicine and thoughts
Technology and religion
Shouldn't we be above such
"Animalistic" instincts and intuition
Are we so superior after all
When we help make the planet and ourselves
Take the fall?
Shouldn't we be above all this?
Because while we aren't "all mighty",
We're still supposed to be human, after all.
